  • I am new to Pilates, can I join a weekly class?
Yes, we have several Beginner classes each week to choose from. You will learn the basics of Pilates within a small group and will have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you wish in order to obtain a good basic technique and understanding, which will prepare you for moving on to one of our other classes when you feel you need more challenge.
  • I'm a shift worker and cannot commit to the same time each week.
You will have access to our booking system via an App, which means that you can just book in using your pass whenever it suits you.
  • The Beginner classes available are not at a convenient time for me.
If the Beginner class timetable does not suit your schedule, you are very welcome to have one or two 1:1 sessions instead to prepare you for joining another class. Some people only need a single 1:1 session to grasp the basics, but others may find that they need two, or sometimes even three before they feel ready to join a class.
  • I suffer with back pain and I'm worried that I will not be able to fully participate in Pilates classes.
A large percentage of our clients come to us for help with back pain. The first time you come in for class or 1:1, we will be assessing what your needs are and which exercises work best for your body. We will give adaptations or alternative exercises if we think they are more appropriate for you. This is easy for us to do as we never have more than 10 participants in a class.
  • I have participated in Pilates before and would like to join a Mixed Ability class as I feel a Beginner class will be too easy, but can I try a Pilates class out first before booking a slot in a regular class?
Yes, you can look at the class choices online and book into any drop in class to see whether it suits your needs before continuing.
  • If I enjoy the drop in class, how do I go about booking a regular slot?
You can either continue to book drop in classes, or purchase class pass packs and use them to book into classes.
  • Are my Matwork and Reformer class passes interchangeable?
No, the two Studios and their payment systems operate differently.
  • Do I need to bring my own mat?
Lovely thick mats and head cushions are provided for you at the Studio, along with any other equipment used.
  • What should I wear for Pilates?
Comfortable clothing to allow for freedom of movement such as tracksuit bottoms, leggings or shorts and a t-shirt. Preferably not too excessively baggy so that posture and alignment can be checked. Jewellery should also be minimal. Grip socks are required, and if desired can be purchased via the App and collected at the Studio.
  • I have a medical condition, is it safe for me to do Pilates?
As with any form of exercise, it is advisable to check any potential issues out with your GP prior to booking onto a course or one-to-one.

Maintenance massage is regular massage to keep the soft tissues flexible and ‘well oiled’, it is often equated to the service you would have on your car … regular servicing to keep the engine well oiled and in the best condition possible, we all do this for our cars but how many of us do this for our bodies? Maintenance massage can be useful for the management of a particular condition or to help prevent injury and improve performance both in sports and in every day tasks. The frequency of this depends on individual requirements, body type and reason for maintenance, along with how much physical stress is regularly placed upon the body whether it be through occupation, training or carrying children. A maintenance massage can be anything from every week to every three months … but the majority of our clients find that once a month is optimal.
  • How many sessions will I need to resolve my pain?
This often depends on how long you have had the pain. The sooner you seek help post injury or pain, the quicker and more successful the resolution is likely to be. If you have had chronic pain or injury for a very long time then recovery will be a much slower process, as your body will have developed many compensatory patterns further contributing to that injury, which will need to be slowly unravelled. The average is usually around six sessions but depending on the circumstances this can be less or more.
  • I have a pain that keeps coming back, what can you do to help?
Our initial objective is to reduce your pain as quickly as possible. We can then look at your posture, lifestyle and biomechanics if necessary, aiming to reduce the risk of recurrence. The next step is to educate you about your body in a way that you are able to maintain this yourself either through exercise and good postural and biomechanical habits, or with maintenance massage, or with a combination of the two.
